The reorganisation of work lives bought about by the pandemic has also been met with a reorganisation of domestic space as the site where work now takes place. For Higher Education, this means that homes have now become classrooms. However, the fundamental premise of successful online education is the access to both electricity supply and an Internet connection which are not universally available in India. Drawing on findings from an ongoing qualitative study, Pawan Singh outlines four key ways in which the pandemic has reconfigured Higher Education in India

Includes bibliographical references.2015 Fall. The analysis of the electrical system dates back to the days when analog network analyzers were used. With the advent of digital computers, many programs were written for power-flow and short circuit analysis for the improvement of the electrical system. Real-time computer simulations can answer many what-if scenarios in the existing or the proposed power system. In this thesis, the standard IEEE 13-Node distribution feeder is developed and validated on a real-time platform OPAL-RTâ„¢. The concept and the challenges of the real-time simulation are studied and addressed. Distributed energy resources include some of the commonly used distributed generation and storage devices like diesel engine, solar photovoltaic array, and battery storage system are modeled and simulated on a real-time platform. A microgrid encompasses a portion of an electric power distribution which is located downstream of the distribution substation. Normally, the microgrid operates in paralleled mode with the grid; however, scheduled or forced isolation can take place. In such conditions, the microgrid must have the ability to operate stably and autonomously. The microgrid can operate in grid connected and islanded mode, both the operating modes are studied in the last chapter. Towards the end, a simple microgrid controller modeled and simulated on the real-time platform is developed for energy management and protection for the microgrid

    Image Classification: A Survey

The Classification of images is a paramount topic in artificial vision systems which have drawn a notable amount of interest over the past years. This field aims to classify an image, which is an input, based on its visual content. Currently, most people relied on hand-crafted features to describe an image in a particular way. Then, using classifiers that are learnable, such as random forest, and decision tree was applied to the extract features to come to a final decision. The problem arises when large numbers of photos are concerned. It becomes a too difficult problem to find features from them. This is one of the reasons that the deep neural network model has been introduced. Owing to the existence of Deep learning, it can become feasible to represent the hierarchical nature of features using a various number of layers and corresponding weight with them. The existing image classification methods have been gradually applied in real-world prob-lems, but then there are various problems in its application processes, such as unsatis-factory effect and extremely low classification accuracy or then and weak adaptive abil-ity. Models using deep learning concepts have robust learning ability, which combines the feature extraction and the process of classification into a whole which then com-pletes an image classification task, which can improve the image classification accuracy effectively. Convolutional Neural Networks are a powerful deep neural network tech-nique. These networks preserve the spatial structure of a problem and were built for object recognition tasks such as classifying an image into respective classes. Neural networks are much known because people are getting a state-of-the-art outcome on complex computer vision and natural language processing tasks. Convolutional neural networks have been extensively used

Impact of industrial effluents on ground water and soil quality in the vicinity of industrial area of Panipat city, India

The present paper is aimed towards the assessment of heavy metal contamination of agricultural soil due to irrigation with contaminated ground water affected by textile industrial effluents at Panipat city in India. Samples of ground water and irrigated soils from textile industrial area were analyzed for various heavy metals, viz. Mn, Ni, Fe, Cu, Cd, Pb and Zn, using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry. Metal transfer factors from ground water to irrigated agricultural soil and from soil to ground water were calculated for heavy metals. The findings deal with the distribution of heavy metals in ground water of industrial area and irrigated agricultural soil. Transfer factors for heavy metals from effluent to ground water were observed to be 0.436, 1.180, 6.461, 2.401, 2.790, 3.178 and 0.634 for Cd, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn respectively. These were found to be very high from ground water to agriculture soil due to the natural shale value of heavy metals in soil system. Thus, untreated industrial effluents can cause an environmental threat to ground water resources and affects soil quality and agricultural plant productivity

Effectiveness of Concept Attainment Model on Mental Process and Science Ability

Model of teaching is an innovative method of teaching. A variety of teaching approaches have been evolved to design instruction. But which approach/ Model of teaching is most appropriate, having better impact effective, efficient, interesting?.....! can only be answered through research keeping each Model's instructional and nurturant effects in view. A step was needed to prove effect of Concept Attainment Model on mental processes and attitude towards science and the like. Therefore the present investigator undertook the problem of evaluating the effectiveness of Concept Attainment Model on mental process and science ability. Thus the present study can be stated as ''Effectiveness of Concept attainment Model in mental process and science Ability''

A Study of Moral Judgment of School Children Belonging to Different Socio-Economic Status and School Backgrounds

The national education policy (1986) lays emphasis on moral and social values and therefore the teachers are induced to, themselves, become morally handsome and impart moral education to the children through their deeds. We could ensure social harmony, peace, love and brotherhood, by cultivation of moral values among the children. Two hundred students have been selected in the sample by using stratified random sampling technique. In case of convent background schools, students of low S.E.S. group have shown better moral judgment than the students of high S.E.S. group. There exists no significant difference in the moral judgment of high and low S.E.S. group students of Nagar Palika background schools

Home Environment as the Determinant of Educational Aspiration

The home and the family provide the first social environment to a child and determine as to what his first attitudes would be towards people and social activities. The kind of child training used in the home has a pronounced influence on later social adjustment. It has been, found that the adolescents who are most popular and most active in the social affairs of their schools and colleges have a warm and friendly feeling towards their families. And on the other hand, there are adolescents in the society who, having depressive home environment in their childhood, are not confident of themselves and do not aspire to achieve anything worthy in life. Therefore the main purpose of the present study is to analyze the psychological causes that account for this social malady and tosuggest so as to create higher educational aspirations among the youth
